This is a quick post to let you know that we have recently signed up for a Blogging Course and we learning heaps of new things to help us improve this blog. If you have visited before, you would have noticed a big change to the look of this blog. I have decided to pay a small sum of money to purchase a professional quality “Theme” which enables me to get a more professional look without any knowledge of programming. We are also learning how to make our own videos and audios so we plan to make this blog more interesting with multimedia posts soon.
Learning about Blogging reminds me of the time when I was learning Options in 2004. What a change the internet has made to the cost of education in this few short years! We started our education in Options by reading an Options book and then attending a 3 day course which cost us USD780 each. The first day of the course covered really basic information about options which we already knew from reading the book. By Day 3, we had learned a few basic strategies and how to open an options trading account. We did our first trade on our own and of course it went horribly wrong and we lost quite a sizable chunk of our trading account. There was no mentoring or support available so we gave up trading options after that. In 2005, I decided to give options another go and this time I signed up for a distance learning course for USD5000. It was run by a US company so most of the classes were scheduled to suit US residents. As I was living in Malaysia at that time, I had to stay up late or wake up very early to attend the classes and it took me about 6 months to complete the course. There was limited mentoring support. Luckily I got to know one of the more advanced students living in Singapore at the time, who became my default mentor and we still keep in touch today to share our trading ideas even though he has since moved to Geneva.
In comparison, I started to learn about blogging buy downloading some free e-books from the internet. I found some great information from two e-books which directed me to watch some free videos from BecomeaBlogger.com that taught me step-by-step how to set up my own Blog using free software from Wordpress. BecomeaBlogger also had a premium membership program where I could learn more advanced blogging techniques, like creating multimedia content. I decided to sign up for this a few days ago as I was very pleased with the free education I had received so far. For a mere USD247, I got access to another 50 quality video presentations which I could watch at my convenience, a members only forum (where I can ask questions and get answers from both the course author as well as other more experienced students) and regular teleconferences. In a few short weeks, I have learned so much and the mentoring support is great and I think the course is really great value for money.
This blogging training program has inspired me to develop a similar affordable training program for learning how to trade options in Australia (once I know how). If you have read my earlier posts on this blog, you will know how passionate I am about teaching stock investors like SMSF Trustees how to use options to protect their stock portfolios and to generate additional income. Stay tuned to this blog as I expect we will be posting a lot of quality content in the future. The easiest way to stay in touch is to do a RSS subscription to get updates to this blog by a RSS reader or by email. If you are like me (before I did the blogging course) and do not know what RSS is, just watch this free video which explains clearly what it is, why it is a great way to get website updates and how to set up a Google Reader account for your RSS feeds.
